Did I Wish for a Kish?

When I allowed myself to get
very interested in dolls, again,
I was enchanted by the work
of Helen Kish.

A little magazine shopping
showed me that "Kishies"
would be out of my line
for awhile.

Now, I could hardly believe
what I found in a local thrift
store for one dollar, lately.

American Girl (read "Mattel")
had a line called
"Girls of Many Lands,"
designed by Kish.
This one is Chou Spring Pearl,
and was wearing a
Barbie looking dress.
Isn't this fun?!  :)

Felicity "Inherits" a Dress

It is a little large on her.

It is so pretty.

She looks so pretty in it.

I decided she can wear it anyway!

The phone rang while we were
having our photo session, so I
dashed in the house.
When I came back out and saw how
little and lonely she looked,
I took a shot.

Got a Buck? (Plus Shipping, Of Course)

Thought I'd take a peek at what dolls are on Ebay for a dollar or less.
I have won such auctions with a first bid.
Among the usual assortment of nude Barbies and McDonald's Madame Alexander dolls I found one vintage doll that claims to be an Antique, and a Mini Kit doll.  I only went through four pages to find these!

A Horse and a Doll

Got the horse a while ago.
Got Felicity recently.
Just put them together, today.

Although the horse was made for this size doll (by another company)  the proportion seems wrong, to me.
Am I too picky?

It Fits -- Pretty Well, Anyway.

Knit back to front in one piece,
this sweater did not fit the doll it
was intended for.
Today, I ran across it,
finished hiding the  yarn ends
and had the happy idea to
try it on Felicity.

Today's Brainstorm

Today, I got the idea I'd like
to make a hippie hat.
I got it almost done, before
I went to bed.
When I looked at my photos,
I was reminded of
1970's art.  So, of course,
I messed with the pictures.

Don't you think Felicity's
hat goes well with her
colonial Williamsburg attire?

At least her hairdo
(or hair didn't )
is right for the hat!

Another Girl tries the Dress

This Daisy Kingdom doll
caught my eye
(she was standing about
in her underwear)
and, since I have not yet
sewn for her,
I decided to try the
American Girl dress
on her.

Not sure if she looks a little peeved,
or what, but the dress is a pretty
good fit.
This doll has the plastic body.

Felicity has the cloth
body.  I think my AG
doll is the Pleasant Company
version.  The Mattel dolls
appear a little slimmer.

Oh, I Shouldn't Have!

I stopped to see a friend
who sells dolls at a flea market.
She had this sweet little AG dress
with which I fell in love.

And this little home-made dress
caught my eye, too.
I shouldn't have bought either
of them.

I controlled myself
(Ha Ha Ha!)
and only bought one.

Doesn't Felicity look
 sweet in it?

I also met a doll lover
from my own town!
That was cool!

Tight Squeeze, but...

Hair combed, and a "new" outfit, made
Felicity look sweet, don't you think?

Took this from a bargain
priced porcelain doll.  I
remember thinking that
whoever priced the dolls
in that thrift store had
no eye for quality, as
other dolls were priced
twice this one.  Got rid
of the doll a while back, but
struggled her dress and
hat onto Felicity, today,
and was happy with the result!

Oh, Look! Look! Look!

Look who was at the flea market, today!
I a corner of the very last table at one end
of the outdoor market, marked $20, it's
Felicity!  I asked if he could do better and
the dealer knocked off another $5!

I have a real American Girl Doll!
Me!

I have at least a dozen patterns
for this sized doll.  I had asked my
neighbor if her daughter would
loan me her AG to try the clothes
on (when I start sewing them)
so that I can say they fit AG's.
Now I have Felicity,
one of my favorites!

JOY!

She's in good used condition.
