Tressy by American Character

My mother was an outdoor
girl.  Her doll was a baby doll
with a composition head, arms
and legs.  As big as some
two year olds, with open and
Shut brown eyes and real teeth,
she was a beautiful baby.

I liked to sit inside and read.
When I wanted dolls they
were fashion dolls.  Mom did
not understand, but she saved
her can labels and sent for
 Tressy.

Eventually, there were three Tressies
at our house.
The offer was no longer available
when my youngest sister came to that point.

My Tressy went through a harrowing
experience in 1972.  The truck
carrying our things during a move
burned up.  She came through,
but she was scarred for life.

The mixture of soot and chemicals
used to put the fire out left her
blackened, but she retains
her shape and her appendages.  :)

A Little Lavender Knit Dress

Was it last week

That I finished this
little lavender dress?

I'm not sure,
but it was fun. :)

Dollar Dolls!

I have been at it, again.

"Uncle Si" & I enjoy hitting
those thrift stores.
Wee Three Friends Janet
by Mattel, was $1.

Fashionista Ken (Mattel)
for $1.

My Scene Hudson (I think)
Mattel $1

AND
Madame Alexander undressed
was also $1, but the panties
were another 25 cents at a
flea market.

Of course, I had to play with some
of my pictures... :)

I Have Midges

But, I bought another, anyway!

Her hands are chewed, but whole.

I thought of putting her
on another body,
anyway.
She was only a dollar...
Oh, dear, I must thin out
my dolls.

She was not the only one,
either!
I may be more discriminating
with my purchases
(I hope)
but I am still buying.

Should I feel bad?

Turtleneck for the Guys

Trent
As Marta has noticed, I have made
a turtleneck pullover
for the men dolls.

Here's the back
(and Basil's back.)

Russell was the first
to wear it.

New Guy

Who is that, hiding in the sweater?

It's Basil St. John.  Effanbee made him.
He's Brenda Starr's boyfriend.
Didn't recognize him?
In the comic strip, he wore an eye-patch.
Still not ringing a bell?
Well, I don't think Brenda and Basil
look much like the drawings of
Dale Messick, but I like them, anyway.

Found at the Doll Show

Trent!

I "needed" a Trent for a
fit model.

Plus, I love his over the top,
almost cartoonish look.
What do you think?

Is it is as Cute as I Think it is?

Just finished the jacket, last night.
Trying to get it listed, now.

Well, do you like it?
Will it sell?
Am I nuts?
Well, that's not in question.

I am nuts.
I guess, is my taste like anyone
else's, would be the real question.

Venturing Out of my Comfort Zone

Slowly

and in a small way,
I'm posting items in
my Etsy shop.

I've even made a sale!
(It was not doll related)

I call my shop Needledoodles.

We shall see!

Uneeda Suzette?

She's marked with a capital U
on the back of her head.

She was sold to
me as
Uneeda
Suzette.

(who seems to
have had at least 3
faces...)

Gemette

Found this little lady at a flea market.

She was wearing navy blue plush.

Her clothes were leaving
plush dust all over her.

Her beauty was hidden in a dark bonnet.

So, I brought her home.
Her face is sweet.
Her arms and hands are pretty.
Her body and legs are considerably
thinner harder plastic.

Beach Brat(z)

Outside the dressing room.

About as close to the water as she wanted to get.

OK, this log is wet.  Sea foam is hanging from it.
Get the shot and get me out of here.

I Went to a Doll Show and Took No Pictures!!

I did, however, buy a doll!

Too late in the day to take natural light shots.

But I had fun with this one, under the lamp.

The Doll That Nobody Wants?

Thing about it is, I like these dolls.  I just have too many to really enjoy them.  I'm not starting a doll museum any time soon, so I've decided these need to find new homes.  Are any of you interested enough to pay postage and handling plus $2 a doll?  I will go lower on multiples, too.

Here is a start.

I welcome questions about the dolls.  I may be able to get a better shot of a specific doll, if you'd like.  Tomorrow I may be able to offer these to a wider audience.
