Portrait of Porcelain

I once aspired to paint portraits.
I still wishfully think of it.
I'm not very good, but
 I can "doctor" a photo
with gimp and pretend! :)

Here is the original photo.
Isn't this everybody's idea
of fun? ;)

Grandma's Here!

I'm not supposed to be even looking at dolls
with the thought of acquiring them.
I have told myself so.
Nobody else has made this rule.
I made it for myself.
So...
Well, she's very tiny.
She's dollhouse size.
I'm afraid I succomed.

Hi, Grandma!

Could I Have Resisted?

OK, so..
yesterday, we stopped so that
one of our number could use
the restroom at Goodwill.
I had an errand at a nearby store.

When I got back
the others were still in the store,
so I made a quick run through
while they stood in line.
Sprawled across the stuffed animals
Was a large porcelain doll in a purple dress,
white tights and black patent Mary Janes

Her price tag read $2.99.
I guess I could have resisted.

When I got her home, removed her
animal hair covered dress,
her ruffled baby tights
and her shiny shoes,
I found that she's a kneeler
with flat little palms,

so she can pray.

Goodwill Find

There were several porcelain
dolls at Goodwill, today.
They were mostly priced
well so I might have purchased
them for their clothes.
Not having a huge ammount of
cash. I decided on this one.
The quality of the clothing,
as well as the style, were
the deciding factors.
She's so cute, it's kind
of too bad to deprive her of her
clothes (at least.)
I probably will, anyway.

What Did I Do With Her?

For some reason, I've been
thinking about this doll a lot,
lately.

I bought her for the dress
she had on, but I'm pretty sure
I did not give her away.

 Oh, dear!

Do know what you have,
 what you have had,
and where everything you have is?

I Got A head (or Two)

If you have followed this
blog for any time at all, you
know that I have bought thrift
store dolls, stripped them of
every thing I want, then passed
them on.

Some dolls are broken.

Sooo...
I end up with parts

I not only have arms and legs (and some
eyes) from broken dollies, but I have at
least two heads.  What did I have in mind?
I think I remember.
Will I ever do what I planned?
Should I just toss them?
Have you any suggestions?

Do you, like me, sometimes
find yourself attracted to a doll
that is not your usual "type?"

Tender Heart doll

Well, here she is!

My DH and I were in Goodwill, yesterday.
This doll was ticketed with the half price color.

Plus, I have a discount card.
(You buy the card for $10 and
it's good for 10% off for a year.)
That made her $2.25 before tax.

Would you have resisted?
She's weighted and contoured to
sit.  I love here bare feet.  Her hands are large
and clumsy in comparison.

Her dress fits 14 inch Betsy better
than it does the original owner.

What would you do?
For that price I got a dress and a
wig that I can pull off and use for
other dolls.
Someone has marked her face, arm and leg.
I don't really have a place for her.
BUT
Just look at that face!

tag on doll body reads:
Tender Heart Treasures, Ltd.
Made in China

and

FOR DECORATIVE
PURPOSES ONLY
NOT RECOMMENDED
FOR CHILDREN

Not a Doll, at All!

So, why do I like to collect these?
Why are they all male?
(I do have a girl, but she has a special spot.)
I didn't pay more that $4 for any of these.
Hmm, well, anyway, I like them.

I'm not sure any of these are attributed.

Goodwill Darling

I got this little darling at
Goodwill, yesterday.
She was marked $4.99,
had the half price colored
tag, plus, my discount card
was still good.

I'm adding very few porcelain
dolls to my collection, so I bought her for her clothes.

Belted or not, doesn't Marley look sweet in the dress?

The wig may be used on my
Goodreau "Secret."
Porcelain doll marked "DOLLMASCOT" on head.
Marley Wentworth is by Tonner.

What to do...

I do not collect reproduction antique dolls.
BUT
These two were gathering dust in a thrift store.
When they went half price I bought.
WHY?
To rescue them?  Because they were a "bargain?"

They are boxed up in my basement getting no
attention at all.  How is that any better?

Kingstate dolls with COAs.
