Sylvia at Waterfront

If you are in Brunswick, Maine
on the weekend
do visit the indoor flea market.
It is called the Waterfront Flea Market
and is in Fort Andross.

Tucked away in the middle
of this fascinating place
is
Sylvia.
Now Sylvia does not like
to have her picture taken,
BUT
She does not mind if I
take pictures of her dolls.
After all,
they are for sale.

Here is some of what
I got to see, today.

~Reproduction Bru~

Bru is a name which nearly
any doll collector recognizes.
The French dolls have been
reproduced in various forms
many times.

~Patsy Joan by Effanbee~
This one is hard plastic.

~American Child by Dewees Cochran
for Effanbee~
This beauty is also hard plastic.

~Dolly Rosebud by Horseman~
(another hard plastic)

~Rosebud Brother by Horseman~

~Applause's Raggedy Ann~
What a cutie,
don't you think?

And more...
The beautiful big composition darling,
Chatty Cathy,
more babies, more compo,
more hard plastic and vinyl...

Years ago
I started talking to Sylvia just about
dolls, but (in the interest of full
disclosure) I now count her among
my real friends. :)

Somebody Wants Me!

"I'm sorry.  I don't mean to
be hurtful.  I know we've
been listed side by side
for a while.  I just can't help
being a little excited.
If you are happy for me,
you don't have to say
anything.  Just smile.

Thank you!"

Another Shot

Here's my next attempt
at getting the cash flow
turned around!
I bought a doll lot,
last year.  This,
though unexpected
was in it.
I have it on eBay.
Well, we'll see.

Oh, by the way,
neither cloth doll has sold.
Oh, well.

Have I Done This, Before?

Have I already tried to
sell an original doll
on eBay?

I don't remember doing it.

So, here goes.

Yikes!

OOPS! SALE

Well, I've been thinking of doing it, but now I have an urgent reason.  If anything in my tiny Etsy shop NeedleDoodles should catch your fancy, hop on over there, use the coupon code OOPSIEDOODLE and get 20% off.  I have additionally reduced prices on some of my items.

In case you are wondering, I bid 99 cents on two dolls and won them both.  This would be fine, but one is a medium sized bisque and the other is also not small, causing the shipping prices to be a bit high.  Oh, well.
I think I'll have to do a post on my "dollar" dolls! :)

New Crissy Outfit

Once again, I'm not sure
why I'm allowed to add a photo, this time!

Here's my latest outfit
I have put on eBay for Crissy
by Ideal size dolls.
Modeled by Kerry,
this is another
"retro"
nod.

Gene Book

Just a quick announcement:

I listed a copy of Gene Marshall Girl Star on eBay, today.  If one of my readers wants this book we can probably come up with a buy it now price, unless the complicated rules of eBay forbid it.  :)

Both Sold!

Just a quick update:

It worked.

I listed both patterns with a buy it now option.

Last night I got the notice to ship the second one.

Wow!

OK, I'll See How this Works

I bought this pattern for my own use,
at Goodwill.  When I realised it
is in factory folds, I wondered if it
would sell.  It is beautiful.
I just don't know if I will
actually make it.

With that in mind, I decided to buy this one, too.
It is pure speculation.
I don;'t have any Cabbage Patch dolls.
I bought it, just to see if I could sell it!
Whoa!
It, too, is uncut.
I put them both on eBay.

The Crissy outfit I put up last week
has sold.  It wasn't as wildly
sought after as the pink
outfit, but it did get 3 bids.  :)

Well, Now...

I got another little Crissy
outfit done
and
listed!
PLUS
the little
St. Patrick's Day
dress
 sold
 in the last few minutes.
(With more than one bid.)

Just more blessings for me! :)

What Would You Do?

I found a St. Patrick's type fabric that I liked,
last week.
Don't you like it?
I had decided not to do anything
to sell specifically for
St. Patrick's Day.
By the time I found this,
it was rather late for
sewing and listing.
You have to leave shipping time,
you know!
So, I started a dress for 14 inch
Betsy McCall from a
commercial pattern.
UGH!

Then I started a Skipper outfit.
I may finish it for Barbie.
There was my good old
vintage dress for Crissy by Ideal.
Simple, cute, an ideal (mmphh!)
pattern!  (Actually vintage
Simplicity)
What could go wrong?
Never ask that!
Actually, it's a good
question for a lot of
situations.
A little yellowish stain appeared
on the lining.
The lining did not line up with the
hem of the dress.
The hem of the dress did not
line up in back,

even after I thought I fixed it.

Then, when I put it on Kerry,
it looked so cute
that I decided to try

to sell it anyway!
I got very honest in my description.
I started with a low price.
We shall see.  :)

Oh, and the little Skipper outfit,
all hand knit, sold for $1.90.
Guess it wasn't as cute as I thought
it was!  :)

Update

Whew!
I had a busy couple of days,
so I thought I would get a
chance to play around and
blog a lot on Sunday afternoon.
Well, that did not happen.

This morning I received payment
for this Skipper outfit,
and I printed the shipping label & packing
slip, wrote a note on the slip,
sealed it all up and got it into the mail box.

Now, this outfit turned out
to be quite popular.
I know $3 is not much for
a whole outfit, but
money is tight, these days,
so I start my outfits out
low.
This one got 9 bids and
went for $12.50.
I realise that isn't going to make
me rich, especially after Pay pal
& eBay get paid, but I'm
elated that I made a "hit."

This dress sold, too.
I have not been paid for it, yet.
I think the buyer will enjoy it
and should be happy with
their $1 prize.

Skipper is hiding in shame
because her knit outfit did not
sell.  (Actually, this was to
show the back.)  I re-listed it for
a rather low price, so perhaps it will
sell, this week.

Hoping to play and take pictures
more, this week.

Have fun!

Experimenting, Again

The two Skipper outfits sold.
Guess I'd better make some more!
In the meantime, I am listing two
dresses for Crissy & company,
modeled by Kerry.

I was a little shocked at how
short the pink dress came
out.  Also, I wanted to experiment
with the pattern, a bit.
Kerry shows us my next attempt.

There were two areas that I wanted
to try "improving" on the pattern.
(Well, I also lengthened it, but that
is hardly an experiment, for me.)
I wanted to try lining the top of the
dress without slip stitching.
I did not get that right!
I did cut the dress in
one piece.  This results in the
back being on the diagonal,
so, if you try it, you have been
warned!  By pinning the
shoulder seam on the stitching
line, I eliminated the shoulder
seam altogether.
This required a larger
piece of fabric, but I
was unhappy with the big
shoulders of the Skipper
dress I had made, earlier.  I am
pleased with this result
and plan to try it with
smaller doll patterns.

Unfortunately, I did not
photograph the process.
Perhaps, next time.
