For a Dollar, He's a Doll!

I passed him by.
He was marked $1.99.

But then, when red tags
were half price,
he was still there!

I bit.  I bought.  Can a girl ever have
too many G I Joe action figures?

Is that thought menacing?
Is this pose menacing?

OK, I'm not into the bulging veins
on the bulging muscles.

He is a little muscle bound.

But, look at that articulated hand!
(OK, Joe, I see you are looking.)

I don't think I've had a hand with
a separate forefinger, before.

I mean, Joe can summon silently.

His hands can be quite expressive.
Looks to me like he wants his
binoculars back.

Now, what do you suppose is "OK?"

Again a Dollar Doll!

At the same time I bought Esmerelda
I picked up this little beauty.

She has the Teen Skipper body and
the Courtney face, but I have not
yet found this particular doll, anywhere.

Of course, I had to mess with the
photo.  :)

I ignored these tallest Skipper
dolls, when they first came out.
I was annoyed that they kept
Skipper growing more and more.
Finding them in the thrift store
made me look them over a little
more and I found that I like
their slim figure, sweet faces
and their improbably long legs. :D

Esmerelda

"No more dolls!"
Oh, yeah?
What if I find an Esmerelda
at Goodwill for one dollar?

"Well..."  :)

'Til the Cows Come Home?

I used to only like dolls that are,at least loosely, human
representations.

Lately, I have been noticing
some cute ones!

Recently, this thrift store cow came
home with me.

Is it possible my "mood" is changing?

What is happening to me?

Did you ever use that expression?

"You can keep arguing 'til the
cows come home, but it won't
change my mind."

Thing is, the cows usually
do come home, on farms where
I lived.  I remember our
neighbor calling "come boss"
at the gate.  I think I remember
the milk cows gathering there
before he called, too.

Maybe this expression
has something to with big
ranches where they have
roundups. :)

Grandma's Here!

I'm not supposed to be even looking at dolls
with the thought of acquiring them.
I have told myself so.
Nobody else has made this rule.
I made it for myself.
So...
Well, she's very tiny.
She's dollhouse size.
I'm afraid I succomed.

Hi, Grandma!

A Little Blue Knit Sweater

It was fun, but I'm not happy
with the seams joining the
sleeves to the sweater
at the shoulders...

if you see what I mean. :/

A Little Lavender Knit Dress

Was it last week

That I finished this
little lavender dress?

I'm not sure,
but it was fun. :)

Goodbye, Miko

This is Miko.

I often check out the dolls
in a department store.

Miko really got my attention.
I waited until she went on sale.
I bought her.

We were building a house.
There wasn't much money
lying around.
I had a small allowance
or a part time job,
I don't remember which.

Miko meant something to me.

BUT
Miko has been standing
in a box of dolls
gathering dust.

Sooo...

I sold her on eBay
and sent her off on Monday.

Goodbye, Miko.
I hope somebody enjoys you.

Now I have made a proper
goodbye and I won't be
sad for long. :)

For being such a good girl,
I printed out this paper doll
in color.

Do you like paper dolls?

They will never take the
place of dolls, for me,
but I do like them. :)

Meygana Broomstix

I have wanted to play with
this sized doll for a while.
This one is a Bratz version.
They are called Bratillaz.
I am not usually very interested in Bratz.

Her shoes come off, unlike
the Bratz I've seen who have
peg legs that fit into solid shoes.
She was in a thrift store.
Her skin is not one of the colors
of the rainbow.
These, for me, are plusses.

For my dolls, I prefer a more natural
look, but this one is fun to play with
and the camera loves her cartoon
like face.

She even had her shoes.
This is not usual for a thrift store doll.
I did not realise, until I got her home and looked her up,
that she is meant to be a witch.  Almost any time I get a thrift
store doll and it turns out to have monetary value, I try to sell her.  I'm still missing my Mattel Grandma Happy Family doll, but could not justify keeping her when I saw what she would bring.  So, Meygana is up for sale.  If she does not sell, I will have fun redressing her and playing with her hair.

Let me run on, for a bit, about my attitude.

When I was growing up we thought of witches as purely fictional.  We dressed up as witches.  I still enjoy "Bewitched" reruns.  When I learned that there were people who actually called themselves witches and made it their religion, it astonished me.  Jesus said, "I am the way."  I believe Him.
So, I no longer have cute little witches around.  I am not afraid of witchcraft.  I just feel differently about the whole thing.  Having a doll that is meant to be a witch in the house does not frighten me.  If she does not sell, I will just change her clothes and make her into who I want her to be.  After all, isn't that what dolls are all about?  So, if I have offended anyone with this post, that was not my intention, and I apologise.  I wish you well.

Well, Misfits!

Isn't this Pizzazz?

I know this is Jem/Jerrica.
(right?)

I think this is Stormer.

I found them second hand.
and for some reason I bought
them.  I was never a fan.
Somehow, though,
I picked them up.

I put them on eBay.

Less than a day later they
sold.

Now, I am accustomed to getting
"watchers" in one day.
Sometimes I even get bids
the first day, though not often.

For somebody to buy my
dolls at the BIN price
the very first day they are
up is highly unusual.

Hmm...
...maybe I shouldn't have sold
them.
(smirk)
I'm glad I did.

I Still Love Dolls!

I still love dolls.

I really do!

Other things have been

getting more attention, of late.
Sorry.

A Tiny Blythe

I found this tiny Blythe
from the Littlest Pet Shop
sets at a Goodwill, last weekend.

Since she was clothed only
in her (holey) painted on
panties, I had the fun of
knitting a tiny dress.

The yarn is made for needle punch
work and my double pointed needles
are either size 00 or 000.
My gauge doesn't go small enough
to measure the needles accurately.
I had FUN!

Old Book + Scissors = Paper Dolls

Well, I don't think about dolls, much,
do I?

She's either extremely long waisted
or ridiculously short -er- limbed. :)

Dollar Dolls!

I have been at it, again.

"Uncle Si" & I enjoy hitting
those thrift stores.
Wee Three Friends Janet
by Mattel, was $1.

Fashionista Ken (Mattel)
for $1.

My Scene Hudson (I think)
Mattel $1

AND
Madame Alexander undressed
was also $1, but the panties
were another 25 cents at a
flea market.

Of course, I had to play with some
of my pictures... :)

I Have Midges

But, I bought another, anyway!

Her hands are chewed, but whole.

I thought of putting her
on another body,
anyway.
She was only a dollar...
Oh, dear, I must thin out
my dolls.

She was not the only one,
either!
I may be more discriminating
with my purchases
(I hope)
but I am still buying.

Should I feel bad?
