The Issue - Skirted

Bias cut skirt from
a vintage pattern

Simple knit tube - no pattern

Two rectangles, with embellishment

A littler tube, or two

Two rectangles,
no embellishment

When I need the satisfaction of
having made something
to soothe my soul,
a skirt,
simple and quickly finished,
is one of my favorites.

  1. All of them are very nice. I especially like the first and last ones. The patterns of the fabrics are nice choices. Of course I always love knitted things too. :o)

    1. Thank you, Bama. :) The yellow and white skirts on Skipper (tall Skipper) and friends were made from quite a thin baby yarn. Even though they took a little while, they were easy and fun to make.

  2. Thank you, James. I've been sewing doll clothes for almost 50 years. I just experiment. The things that come out bad get reworked or thrown out. :) Would you like me to do a step-by-step on the skirt made of two rectangles?

  3. I sew both by hand and machine, James. I like to sew by hand while I'm "watching" television. So much of it is easily comprehended by listening and occasionally looking. In this way I "watch" football and NASCAR with my husband. If I miss something, they replay it, anyway. :) I also like Jeopardy and Millionaire, for that, plus the news. I do try not to watch the news too often. It does not enhance my mood. :/

I'll try to get going on that step-by-step in the morning.
Altering Barbie clothes can be complex. It can also be a cinch. Which dolls do you have?

  4. Hello from Spain: Today I received your postal package. I received the angora sweater that you made me. I love the sweater. I love very much your present for my Barbies. Also red is my favorite color. I am delighted with this gift you sewed me. In a few days I'll make an entry in my blog with the sweater. Thank you very much for sending me this wonderful gift. In today's post, the pink skirt is wonderful. You sew very well. I also like. In the second photo, simple knit tube - no pattern, it is also beautiful. Great job. I see that in the first picture you have Skipper, the sister of Barbie. I also like I have. Keep in touch.

    1. Oh, Marta, I'm glad you received your little package and I'm glad you like the sweater! :)
That first doll does look like Skipper. It is really a Barbie head on a LIV body. They are very poseable. I thought the (Asian) Barbie head was too small for the body it was on. :)

  5. I would love to see pictures of your dolls. Barbie heads got bigger, just a few years ago. I had an old full busted body with a small head. I removed the head of a LIV doll and put the Barbie head on that body. That is the first picture in this post. I like to rescue dolls, too. I've rescued too many, though! :)
    I'm working on a step-by-step. It's more work than I realised. :)
